The Year is 1120 in the Imperial calendar. The Emperor, Hantei XXXVII has passed on and his heir and only son Hantei Jodan, the man who will be crowned Hantei XXXVIII, is to ascend the throne to oversee the Emerald Empire.
However things are not going to be easy for the new Emperor. The Clans are fractured against each other and just last year a large battle was fought by Lion against the Phoenix. The Crane and the Crab look warily on at the ever growing power of the Scorpion and the Dragon clan stands aloof in their mountain homes, watching and waiting.
Signs and portents are gathering and there are whispers of horrors returning as villages keep shut their doors at night in fear. Evil grows in power once more.
The fate of the Empire rests with the samurai of Rokugan.
Hantei Jodan has invited youthful samurai from across the Empire to join with those of higher station in mourning his father's passing and celebrating his own coming coronation. It is rumoured that the Prince has some unusual ideas about the future of the Empire, and more traditional samurai are wary of changes yet to come.
With war looming on the horizon, this winter's gathering may be the last chance for members of the clans to come together in peace before old hatreds and tensions flare under the summer sun.
The premiere event of Chimera Productions Legend of the Five Rings Live Action Roleplaying system, and the inaugural Winter Court.
Players may make a new LARP character that can be used at all future Chimera L5R events, or take advantage of one of the unique personalities attending only this Winter Court.
This is a faction based political freeform, focusing on the etiquette and intrigue among the clans of Rokugan.
